We're over Friday the 13th!

Something strange has been going on here at the farm. Over the last few days we've had a freak series of events happen. What is more perfect to blame other than a full moon on a Friday the 13th?

Many of you may (or may not) know that we have 12 turkeys that we are going to take care of and then process ourselves for Thanksgiving and Christmas this year.  Over the last week farmer boy and his dad - mainly his dad worked to make a really cool custom turkey tractor to house the turkeys over the summer and into the early fall.

On Thursday morning, he went out to cheek to on the turkeys and one was dead. To add insult to injury, whatever killed it only took the head, and not the rest. It could have at least made a meal of it, you know?
Farmerboy thinks it was a raccoon, because they basically kill for sport. Also, because they have "hands" and would be able to reach into the coop if one got close enough to the edge of the fencing.

If you are so inclined, you can see the picture here

As for odd event number two? Oh, nothing but a HUGE snake feasting on the eggs in the chicken coop.  This happens about once per year, but is still a shock when you go to the coop and are welcomed by this:

Here's to hoping that the rest of the day.. and the summer, and our lives are a little less creepy.
